Here is Fibre One, the cake bar that will give you cake for only 90 [or thereabouts] calories! What's not to love?In my opinion, Fibre One bars have come a long way since first they appeared on the grocery shelves and their latest creation - Strawberry Cheesecake - is my favourite so far. It's enough to hit the spot when you want cake but don't want the calories.Excellent work Fibre One! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing product *by M***Y on 26 June 2019* So yummy and low calorie it’s exactly what I need to keep those sweet treat cravings at bay! It’s exceptional value to purchase them in bulk and I feel content knowing that if the cravings start I have something to satisfy them with. This will be on my list of regular purchases! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fibre one concept is superb but inconsistencies between the varieties *by W***R on 13 June 2019* I'm struggling to know how many stars to give this particular flavour of Fibre One bars as I start to write this review. The problem is that at the time of writing this, Amazon are clumping all the reviews for all the different flavours together so the overall rating doesn't accurately reflect the opinions for individual varieties. Agh! I wish they'd change this as it's not helpful.Anyway, this is the third flavour of these bars that I've tried and I was entirely optimistic about them based on my previous experience. I'd had the chocolates brownies and the salted caramel squares in the past, and figured that these would be equally as indulgent. I thought both of those were excellent. My own opinion of carrot cake is no, it's not a patch on the other two.The carrot cake is heavy on cinnamon, and it it taints the mouth with the bitterness it possesses. BUT the flavour does remind me of those little German cinnamon hearts called Lebkuchen, you can buy them at Christmas. These aren't as nice as lebkuchen but given that the manufacturer is Swiss I can see where their inspiration for the carrots cake has come from.The cake seriously doesn't marry too well with their take on cream cheese icing, which I can only describe as seriously funky tasting and oversweet with a heavy dose of artificial. The icing coats the small wedge of cinnamon cakey stuff and is topped with a sprinkle of some sort of finely chopped nuts (which turned out to be almonds). And I can't taste the nuts for the funky icing-cinnamon concoction.There's also a distinct lack of the texture you'd expect from carrot cake, again I will reference Lebkuchen as these are more like that. Only after three bars did I determine that there were a very few extremely finely chopped tiny bits of something vaguely reminiscent of vegetable matter. It was carrot. And there's no fruit, no nice juicy raisins. Was I expecting too much with a bit of raisin?!As for the cream cheese filling, I wouldn't know, because the filling flavour was probably the same as the coating, an artificially sweetened glob of white stuff.The texture of the cake was also a bit powdery. Neither the brownies nor the caramel squares seemed at all floury, but I did read a review of the brownies here where the reviewer felt that they were powdery!The problem is that whilst I write a review which grumbles about this variety, other people have said it's great. And I've read poor reviews on the chocolate brownie which I happen to love!So, at the end of all that, I'm giving this a four star rating that's based upon the concept of the fibre one 90 bars rather than the various varieties. I think that overall fibre one bars are a superb idea, allowing people a little sweet treat without worrying about calories and portion control. And allowing fibre into the diet. I've dropped a star because there's clearly some inconsistencies between each variety. It makes it difficult to say to someone "well if you like that flavour, you'll love the whole range"! That's clearly not true! Pick the wrong variety the first time you try these, and you'll likely be put off trying another variety. If I'd bought the carrot cake bars first, I wouldn't bother with fibre one 90 again!I've ordered the lemon drizzle on my next subscribe and save and I'll update this review accordingly.But as it stands I really think that fibre one could do consumers and themselves a favour by introducing a variety pack.I will eat the whole box of carrot cake, it honestly isn't that rank. Well, it's honestly not that nice in my opinion either... It's just a big let down after trying the excellent caramel and brownie flavours.
