If it stops working, you can replace it with a better, more noiseless one or even a small fish pump if you are confident with a bit of re wiring and sealing. **Q: does this fountain have a loud motor sound or just the sound of running water?** A: For a few hours it was a nice running water sound. Eventually the sound of the motor became so loud that there was absolutely no point in running this item. Someday I may take it apart and see if there is hope of fixing it.
