So i switched to the seresto 8 month collar. The 1st one i used worked great no issues. The 2nd one (8months later) had the same date as the first one. I dont know if that was an issue but the collar stopped working after 5 months and we ended up with fleas. First time that we ever had fleas. So i am going back to frontline. I've tried others, such as Revolution, and would end up having to pick literally 20-50 attached ticks off my dog every time we went hiking and that was pretty much every day. Then they'd get in the house and be crawling on bedsheets and even across the keyboard of the computer - total nightmare. Since using Frontline, I rarely find any. Once in a while I'll find one or maybe two, but they're crawling on top of her fur and never attached. Since using Frontline, I haven't once found an attached tick on my dog nor my mom and dad's dog who is also treated with Frontline. They have had the same experience with their dog - the other brands just plain don't work - at least not for ticks, which is the main issues that we deal with, being that we live in the mountains and hike with the dogs almost ever day. Frontline works. Period. My only caveat is that you can't use this for people, which tells me that it's pretty toxic and that's why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. It's pretty nasty stuff, you're supposed to avoid getting in on your skin and wash your hands immediately afterwards. If it's that toxic to humans, how safe can it be for our dogs? I really don't like the idea of putting something that's too toxic for humans on my dog and neither do my mom and dad. If we lived in the city and/or ticks weren't such an issue, we wouldn't use it. However, because of where we live and our lifestyle, the risks of tick-borne diseases outweigh the risks of the toxicity of the medicine. It's worth it for us.
