Review: 1) Its awesome. 2) Its awesome - Ok, two things you need to know about this product: 1) Its awesome. 2) Its awesome. I work from home part of the week and I noticed on those days I was moving significantly less than the days I go into the office and run from meeting to meeting. During the summer that was ok because after I logged off I could go for a run along the lake. However, living in the Midwest, winter comes in and ruins that whole idea with its polar chill. Now, in my previous apartment buildings there has always been a gym so I never needed to leave the building in the winter to still get in a workout. As winter approached this year though, I knew I had to figure something out or my “big boy jeans” would soon become my skinny jeans. Options: A) Join a gym. B) Find another solution. Let’s be honest, gym memberships are expensive and often begin to collect dust after a few months (I'm being generous here). No one wants to bundle up, trudge through the cold to the gym, get all sweaty, and then bundle back up to go back out into the arctic winter wonderland. On top of that, I'm not really a weight lifting person so I'd be spending around $90/mo just to use one to two piece of equipment and maybe take a class or two every once in a while. Somehow, that doesn’t seem worth it to me. Once I decided to find another solution, I took to the web and settled on finding something I could do in my home. My requirements were: it had to be relatively inexpensive, have a small footprint, and be something I would want to do over and over again. I considered getting an elliptical but they are far too large and usually on the pricey side. A treadmill seemed to have similar flaws though they do make ones that fold up. But I still wasn’t onboard with any of these options yet. Enter the FitDesk 2.0. As I’ve said, I work from home part of the week so being able to combine work and working out, is amazing from an efficiency perspective. Add to that the small foot print of this machine and the great price of it in relation to other similar ones (such as a treadmill desk) and I was sold. Putting it together was relatively easy considering I did it by myself with two curious cats trying to steal the directions every five minutes. The overall structure is very sturdy. I had one small issue with it out of box which was that the monitor was set to km when I really wanted mi. I emailed the company though and they sent me a replacement monitor set to mi at no charge within a matter of days. I cannot tell you how much that made me like the machine/company more. We’ve all had those situations where you send off an email and months later, if you are lucky, they respond and tell you to send the part in before they do anything about it. This means you are paying for shipping and losing time with the product if the part was crucial. I’ve been riding it a couple of times a week for the last couple of months and love it. I ride while I participate in conference calls, work on documents, watch tv, and even while I play games! The only thing I’m marginally peeved by is the comfort of the seat. However, that may be because I’m on it for two or more hours at a time… Overall, this is a solid product from a good company that does exactly what it says it does. Very happy with it and will definitely keep my eye on this company for future products.
Review: A great find. Sturdy and quiet. - I’m actually very impressed with this product. It’s got a heavy sturdy build and is far sturdier than it looks, and I’m a bigger guy. It is indeed very quiet. It wasn’t bad to assemble. And when it folds up to move out of the way, it takes up a very small footprint. I chose not to attach the desk portion. Because I already have a standing desk that I use it with. And it works great.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you get a serious/intense workout on this bike?**
A: Absolutely but you need to crank up the resistance and hold yourself up straight with your core or try to position your hands on the sides of the desk to mimic handle grips. I've worked up serious sweat on mine, but also use it for lower level workouts. It's tricky to integrate the resistance bands, I find doing 1-2 sets of 20 reps every 100 calories works well. The faster you pedal and the higher the resistance you set for the pedals the faster you'll burn calories.

**Q: 1) Does this come with the backrest and extra seat cushion or must those be bought separately? 2) Is it semi-recumabnt?**
A: susan, it does come with the backrest but not the extra seat cushion. my bottom was sore the first couple of days just getting used to it but nothing that ibuprofen couldn't take away. the seat is large and fairly comfortable. i've thought about purchasing the gel cushion cover but now whenever i ride over 20 miles in a day, i just fold up a cushy towel and that works fine. hope this helps. today is 3 weeks for me and i have ridden a total of 347 miles which is just amazing for this former couch potato. in fact, i'm riding it typing this answer. lol!

**Q: would this be comfortable for someone as short as 5' 0"?**
A: I got this bike and I am exactly 5’ 0”. It was too tall and was making riding uncomfortable as I was getting numb within minutes of sitting. My husband was just messing around to try to find a solution and ended up taking away the “tall people bracket” he calls that goes between the adjustment rail and the seat. It lowered it down substantially and I can ride comfortably!

**Q: Does the desktop come off easily? It seems like it would be in the way if you wanted to just watch TV.**
A: i often watch TV and cycle at the same time. the desk does not get in the way at all!!! in fact, i rest my remote on the desk surface. i have no desire to remove the desk. it's handy to have the drawer there, too, with a notepad and pencil in case you are cycling and want to write something down or if you see something on TV that you want to make a note of. i am enjoying this fitdesk waaay more than i thought i would.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great find. Sturdy and quiet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good for exercise, good support
*by P***E on June 27, 2016*

Update 10/14/17 So yesterday I was riding my FitDesk when at about 8 minutes, I started to hear a soft clunking. It continued till I was finished. Today when I started pedaling, there was no noise, but after a few minutes the clunking started again, and it not only got a little louder, but I could feel the rubbing and clunking with each rotation; I found it distracting enough that I stopped earlier than I had planned. The pedals are nice and tight, and I haven't used this bike that much. Update 04/19/17 The seat never felt that comfy, so I got the widest bike seat I could find - it's 13" wide, and that seems to work much better than the narrower seats, as my "sit bones" are over 10" apart. Update 10/05/16 My husband cut down the saddle tube (part 66 in the manual) the seat sits on, cut two holes in the side for the pin to go through, and voila! The Fitdesk now fits me perfectly - and while I was concerned that sitting lower would make the desktop too high to use, it's actually more comfortable for me :) Next step will be to create a seat back that reclines! Original review There are a few things that stood out for me about the Fitdesk v2.0. First is the size of the cranks, 135mm, which is 35 to 40mm shorter than the cranks on most exercise bikes. Since I have short legs, the shorter (but not short) cranks were what first drew me to try the Fitdesk. I like the idea of being able to work while pedaling, but the second thing that stood out for me is Fitdesk's customer support. I emailed them tons of questions before buying; they answered every one quickly, politely and knowledgeably. They also read the questions on this listing, as I asked one and when no users responded, Fitdesk support did. I also like the configurableness (if that's even a word). If you want, you can get an adapter and use any bicycle seat on the Fitdesk; you can also get extenders to widen the desk section. So I bought the Fitdesk, and pedaling is smooth and very quiet - quieter, actually, than my husband's Schwinn 170, which is a nice bike. It took my husband about 35 minutes to build my Fitdesk v2.0 (thanks, honey!), and when some missing parts were discovered, Fitdesk sent them to me and I had them in my hands in 4 days. So why isn't this a 5 star review? First, this claim from the Fitdesk website - "Adjustable Lean. For a further "back lean" ride or a "forward lean" ride." Um, no. My Fitdesk's seat's furthest back lean is pretty much upright with just a hint of back lean; the other adjustments let you sit so your back is actually forward, which doesn't seem very useful to me. I would LOVE it if the seat had a couple adjustments allowing me to lean back further, and in fact that was one of the reasons I decided on the bike. Too bad it's not an accurate claim. I'd be one happy camper if I could adjust the seat back from upright to leaning back to leaning way back. Also the actual seat could be more comfortable, but everyone is different when it comes to seats. For now, it's more comfortable for me than most seats but after 30 minutes or so it gets just a little uncomfortable. As a side note, my husband is a manufacturing engineer and CNC programmer, and he's considering whether he can make me a seat back holder that gives me the angles I want/need with the machines we have access to. In the meantime, the furthest back angle is good if you want to type. Overall I like the Fitdesk quite a bit. The smooth, quiet action is very nice, the vulnerable parts of the body came wrapped so there's not a chip or scratch anywhere and Fitdesk support is really great. The desk itself is nicer in person than in pictures, and the rubber surface is just grippy enough; the desk fits my husband's 17" laptop well and my tablet very well. The computer's scan has a nice speed and seems very consistent. If only the seat back could be adjusted so it could either be used as it is now or lean back further, this would be a 5 star bike for me. As it is, the Fitdesk v2.0 is a very nice exercise bike and I'm really enjoying it.
