It was unclear whether tanking membrane was required to stick the felt edges down, so I went belt and braces and liberally coated the tape with Everbuild Aquaseal Waterproof Tanking Membrane. Review: Seems good. Time will tell - I used this to tank my shower cubicle. I used backer boards to line the walls. And used the tape to seal the joins and cover the screws. It is easy to cut as required and sticks well once rolled down. It seems to provide a good watertight seal and I was able to tile over the boards and tape with no problem.
