The bulk of the nonvolatile matter in the product consists of an alkali salt of fatty acids and the product's detergent properties are due to the alkali-fatty acid compounds. This product is labeled, sold, and represented solely as soap. The brand you speak of marketed their product as if it were a drug. Whether a product is a cosmetic or a drug or a soap under the law is determined in part by the packaging and how the product is marketed. SAL3 contained Cocamide DEA which 'EWG Skin Deep' scores as 7 (possible human carcinogen). We don't include Cocamide DEA and you won't find ingredients in our products that score poorly on 'Skin Deep'. It also included lanolin and ethanol. Neither of these ingredients are in the DermaHarmony bar. I read somewhere that the SAL3 formulation changed in 2016 and moved away from the original formula. SAL3 was never up-front about their ingredients. DermaHarmony puts the ingredients front and center.
