The remote is intuitive, comfortable, and simple, and the array of apps and their interface is great. We only get 10 MBPS wifi speed, whereas 4K needs at least 15, but even so, the 4K shows on Netflix or Amazon are amazing, as are the high definition ones. Upscaled DVD's and Blu ray discs are even sharper, if possible. I don't see how the human eye can want for any more detail or eye-popping color. And finally, a TV that you don't want to hide! I love the thin silver bezel and the thinness of the TV itself. This TV would look sleek sitting on a shelf because of the minimalistic silver legs, but we are mounting ours to the wall with Samsung's 550 mini-mount, which hangs the set almost like a picture on our bedroom wall. Caution for patience: Probably because of some household interference with our wifi speed, sometimes a random streaming show will be horribly blurry and pixelated for a few minutes at the beginning--much worse than an old VHS--but then the fantastic picture kicks in for the rest of the show. Not the TV's fault, but WIFI speed. The only negative thing is that the settings don't allow a full screen setting from a 16:9 source. They do, however, allow the user to manipulate color and whether or not you want to watch in "soap opera" (Auto Motion) and a host of other adjustments. The Samsung 8000 picture quality is so splendid I feel like inviting our guests to set up chairs in the bedroom to watch it instead of watching our excellent-but nowhere near as divine--High Definition Samsung in the living room! ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Problems *by K***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2022* Real quick review on this one - I used the UN49KS8000 as a 2ndary TV/backup monitor in my office. This was my first 4k/HDR TV purchaseThe Good:Picture is pretty great, very sharp with HDR and when working the 4K/HDR picture is exceptional. It' a pretty light TV and uses a OneConnect type of box for I/O. These features are awesome. I'd be happy with the purchase if it wasn't for the myriad of defects I came across with this unit.The Bad:Pretty much off the jump it had weird problems. It never rendered 4K images properly from my PC without a lot of tinkering. Streaming services handled 4k/HDR fine, but it definitely should not be considered even close to a monitor performance, even in my case, where it was a tertiary/backu p monitor and "TV" screen.The LED failed on me within one year of ownership, showing the blacklights through the bottom of the screen and eventually causing a really disruptive bleeding effect. Samsung acknowledged this problem and after repeated back+forth with Samsung support, they dispatched a TV repair guy to come out and replace the problematic board.Since then the power board has also failed (should've seen this coming, as the device would randomly fail to power up). Now that the device is out of warranty, Samsung won't handle this repair. I've had the TV for ~5 years now, but given the investment, limited use of the TV in the grand scheme of things and the type of TV it purports to be, this isn't really acceptable. My main living room 55 inch TV is >10 years old and still working with no problems and I've only had to take that one down to move to my new house.Overall, I wouldn't recommend this generation of Samsung TVs as when I went through the multiple problems I experienced, I found a litany of documentation of these same problems with the device. A shame, because out of the box the product is pretty excellent. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars 18 months - problems start - 12 month warranty *by C***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2018* Beautiful color and resolution! Sleek exterior. Perfect size for viewing in a mid sized room. Now for the bad news: it lasted 18 months!Facts: the TV performed beautifully up until about 1 month ago. It started to display pixillation and delayed programming. We contacted ourservice provider and everything checked out from that standpoint. A week later, the TV would no longer respond to the remote - would then shut off for about 30 seconds, then turn on by itself and repeat this sequence. Finally we couldn't watch anymore interrupted shows. Contacted Samsung customer service, did the diagnostics - outcome: internal problem. Contacted Samsung cistomer service a second time- they sent a new remote with the intention of returning to factory settings - new remote arrives - TV does not pair up and we cannot access the settings remotely OR manually (another problem).There is only a 1 year warranty - this happens after 18 months. Samsung recommends to take it to repair. I ask, who's responsibility: response - the owner - me.The Samsung TV came highly recommended. We are not going to take it for repair at our expense.
