This app does not even have a way to download or create a video from the SD card within the app. You have to manually get the SD card out of the device (that means getting a ladder for the outdoor cams) and put it into your computer and making the video from there. This app seems somewhat disjointed as it has "view activity" in one place and it's another place if you click thru the notification. Some companies have good apps but poor camera and some have a poor app but great cameras. If only we could find that one company that has a great app AND a great camera. This one doesn't seem to be it either. You have to decide what is more important to you - great app (needed features and more control) with ok cameras (like 1080p) or great cameras (2K+) with ok app (less features, less control) For our needs - this is a great camera but just an ok app. We'd like to find one that is great camera, great app - this is camera #4 and we have yet to find that magic combo. **Q: Can I get motion detection alerts on cell without cloud or sd storage?** A: Technically yes - as long as the camera is connected to a WiFi network, with Internet connectivity, and associated with a Kasa account, with notifications enabled in the Kasa app, you should still receive detection alerts when detection occurs. I bought 3 Hasa pan and tilt cameras, 2 of this and one one 1080p camera. I'm using it for wider monitoring (no baby) with 180 degrees of pan and overall I'm pretty content. The 1080 setting is far better if you want a decent picture. It's also useful to switch the camera's frequency from 60hz back to 50hz. The movement controls work better on that setting. Firstly the two niggles - 1) the US power adapter as mentioned by others. Clealy the Kasa brand is now largely restricted to the North American market, so there's no surprise in that - and the wee adaptor could prove useful if travelling to North America. There is also the frequency setting, referred to above, which is wrong. 2) the difficulty connecting the thing on first switch on. I have the Kasa app on both an android (Samsung) phone and on an iphone (and ipad). When commissioning kasa devices, often they will not make first connection using one or the other of these . In this case it was the Android phone that failed, but the ipad worked first time. Bizarre. But that's all my niggles. All in all this kc410s spot/pan/tilt works pretty well and I am pretty confident it is actually new.
