I usually get 2 to 3 years out of one depending on how often i'm in my shop, any where from 2 to 5 days a week. I I have a cyclone in front of the shop vac so I don't have to clean the filter as often. Since it's normally only trapping fine dust I can tell when it's time to clean in by the reduced suction. It's relatively easy to clean. I put it into a trash bag and tap it on the cement floor. About every 3rd or 4th cleaning I run the outside of the filter under running water to flush out any remaining fine dust. I highly recommend it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gore CleanStream Pro HEPA Filter *by L***W on December 11, 2019* This filter is made for Craftsman and Rigid brand shop vacs that originally use a #17816 filter. It is also known as a β€œRed Stripe Filter” because the original paper element filters had a red stripe on them. My particular Craftsman 16 gallon/5.5hp is a model# 113.177905 (late 1990’s). I have had it since about 1999. I have also had my original Gore CleanStream Pro filter since 1999 as well, and it still works fine. I just wanted a quick-change spare for between drying times when I clean them. This filter is sold as a model# 9036000 here on Amazon, which you will find is equivalent to a 17816 or UPC# 7 33132 09093 8 if you look up the UPC number I got from the actual manufacturer of these Gore CleanStream Pro Filters, which is National Filters, Inc. This is the UPC on the box it came in also. Their model/part number is 3313209085. However, the difference with this filter here on Amazon is that it does not need the nut that secures it to the cage. This one simply slips over and fits snugly to the cage. The cap on this filter has a pop-out extension on it so the original screw on the cage won’t bottom out on the filter cap when you press it on. There is no hole in the cap for the cage screw to fit through. The National Filters 09085 does not have the popped-out cap, but does have the hole that needs the cage nut. Either one appears to work for my older model Craftsman shop vac. Another thing I noticed is the Gore CleanStream filters have absolutely no part number or model number stamped on them anywhere. That made it hard to put all this info together. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ filter review *by V***K on October 19, 2013* I've used this brand for years now. I have 5 gl Craftsman shop vacuum, old and crusty. It's micron specs even passed NYC lead abatement inspector. You can wash and use it for years, although tapping the dust loose seem to lengthen filter's life. Washing the filter eventually frays the material, still useable.This seller's filter does not, repeat, does not have the flat bottom. My vacuum has a threaded rod which went through a hole in the flat bottom of the filter, and secure with a wing nut. Maybe the craftsman has another way to secure the filter. I am using it anyway because the top opening fits tightly to the vacuum and past experience showed the opening does not become loose.This filter has rounded bottom without a hole.
