The material used is thick and does not let water through, however the SMALL metal ring holes are there, in my opinion they don't make a difference. It’s beautiful sturdy and keeps the rain and sun off of us. I looked at multiple canopies before choosing this one and the reason i chose this one is because this one was the closest to water proof I could get. My husband and I love sitting outside during rainstorms and now we can. Now on to the bad. So yes this canopy is definitely worth buying and is at a good price but it is not for the weak when it comes to putting it together. The instructions were not helpful in the least. Getting the roof to go up was the absolute hardest by the end of it both me and my husband wants to pull our hair out. Once it was finally up we were both happy to be done with it. I can tell you this we will not be taking it down for a very long time because we don’t want the fight of putting it back up.
