First, it allows you to get in the water heater where a garden hose itself may not fit. It can then be maneuvered inside the water heater to clean more of the surface. Second, the smaller opening creates more water pressure then you would get from a garden hose. **Q: Will this work with suburban hot water heater** A: Worked great on my suburban hot water heater so you shouldn't have any problems! **Q: What is the tube made out of?
