## Description

For use on Shabbos and Yom Tov when used with Shabbos ToothbrushTM. 120mL (4 oz) bottle uses a special spout to drip small drops of toothwash. (avoids spilling excess toothwash) GREAT VALUE! using the recommended 5-10 drops per use, this Toothwash will last up to 1 year of Shabbosim for 2 people Great refreshing flavor for fresh breath on Shabbos Why is there a special Toothbrush and toothwash for Shabbos? There are four main categories of prohibited melacha related to brushing teeth on Shabbos. There are four main categories of prohibited melacha related to brushing teeth on Shabbos with a REGULAR toothbrush and REGULAR toothpaste. These issues vary for individual communities and contemporary poskim. Now, thanks to the new Shabbos ToothbrushTM and specially formulated Shabbos ToothwashTM, these melachos are avoided, allowing you to brush your teeth on Shabbos according to all opinions. The melachos are: Sechitah, Chavalah, Memareach and Uvdin D"Chol Sechitah. Squeezing liquid out of a solid in which it was absorbed is prohibited on Shabbos. When wet, densely packed nylon bristles of a regular toothbrush are pressed against the teeth, many poskim consider it is as if the water is squeezed out of the bristles and forbid using a wet toothbrush. The rubber bristles of the Shabbos ToothbrushTM are far enough apart that it is obvious that liquid does not get absorbed into the bristles and is not squeezed out. Chavalah. Causing oneself to bleed on Shabbos is prohibited. Sharp nylon bristles of a regular toothbrush can cause gums to bleed. The soft rounded rubber bristles of the Shabbos ToothbrushTM do not cause bleeding. In the extremely rare case that very sensitive gums bleed even with the Shabbos ToothbrushTM, consult your local Rabbi and see your dentist. Memareach. Spreading a cream or ointment onto an object used as an applicator to the body is prohibited on Shabbos.

Review: local stores don't carry things like this. In fact - I live in an area with a *tiny* orthodox community (as in, number of families in the single digits, plus some "modern orthodox" on the very "modern" end), so needless to say, local stores don't carry things like this. In fact, none of my friends, even Chabad rabbis and their families (which make up most of local orthodox community) had even *heard* of such a thing. So I was absolutely thrilled to find this online. It of course doesn't clean my teeth as well as a regular weekday toothbrush and toothpaste, and after 3 days (2 day yom tov on Thurs-Fri), my teeth still start to feel a bit gross, but for a regular shabbos it's great, and certainly a huge step up from nothing but mouthwash! And it lasts a very long time, apparently -- I decided to review it when I came to the page to reorder... according to desertcart, my last order was over a year ago! I will say that the first bottle I bought had a sort of a dropper on top, which the second one did not, so the liquid just pours out, rather than slowly dribbling, which is inconvenient and wasteful compared to the alternative, but I have no idea which version I'll get this time as it's been over a year, and that could just have been a one-time mistake or something. And combined with the shabbos toothbrush, which also lasts a very long time, it leaves my teeth feeling just as clean as weekdays for a regular shabbos, pretty good for a 2-day yom tov, and still bearable for a 3-day yom tov + shabbos. Plus even the most halachically careful family I know was interested in trying them, and saw no problem with it (and they're even stricter than the Chabad rabbis I know on many issues), so I think it's halachically sound.
Review: Good product - Does the job and and in combination with the Kosher Shabbos Toothbrush satisfies the basic need. Need to be aware that the cleanless will never be as with regular toothbrush but I believe it is the best that can be reached if you don't want to violate Shabbos requirements.
