French Butter Crocks keeps your real butter soft and spreadable, without refrigeration. This two piece butter crock was hand-thrown on the potters wheel in a Buff colored stoneware clay and glazed in a food safe light beige glaze with blue accent color. The glazes are translucent so the richness and color of the glaze show through/ The inside of both pieces are glazed in food safe beige!******* WHAT IS A FRENCH BUTTER CROCK ? ****** The French Butter Keeper is a simple and functional piece that looks perfect on any table or in anyone's kitchen. Hard as rock butter from the refrigerator is not a pleasure to use. A Butter Keeper allows you to leave your butter out and soft while staying fresh. Butter goes bad when exposed to air. Butter Keepers seal out the air with water. Hold one stick of butter (1/2 c)Instruction Card IncludedTo Use- -Allow your butter to sit out until it is soft. Don't microwave soften it, allow it to soften naturally.  -Pack the softened butter into the lid -Fill the bottom about 1/3 of the way with cold water. Replace every 3 days -When the lid is in the base, the water creates an air tight seal so your butter stays fresh and spreadable. Change the water every 3-4 days and enjoy soft butter anytime! -Leave on your counter and enjoy! I made these so they will look beautiful as a serving piece.  -When empty place in the dishwasher, then start all over!!The item shown in the pictures is a representation of the finished piece but not necessarily the one you will receive. Although I do try to make them all exactly alike, they are handmade so there will be some variances in color and size.
