But I can tell you they don't shake, move or wobble with speakers sitting on top without securing the speaker. The base is solid. **Q: How does the adjustment knob work? I tried tightening the knob but the screw is too short to actually do anything even using pliers to hold the nut** A: If you are talking about the metal spikes that go into the carpet you would adjust them out about three quarters of an inch and tighten the nut counterclockwise it works fine for me. Be sure to step on the pedestal with your foot to penetrate the carpet and make contact with the floor.
