Disappointed
I agree with some of the other reviews that the characters were undeveloped and boring. I was, overall, very disappointed and bought the book based on the great reviews. I could have done without some of the cheesy romantic language such as “her ovaries responded with yum”. I also felt the plot was predictable and moved at a snail’s pace. It took me a month to finish this book and I could never really get into it. I probably won’t read anything else by this author.

Insanely boring with very bad criminal psychology and middle-grade writing
This is meant to be a "romantic mystery" or "romantic suspense" and IMO it fails at it all.It was insanely boring from the start, as well as disjointed. The first scene (let's count how many times we've seen this): a woman escaping in the dark, blahblah, with thoughts such as "This is the end," and lots of one line paragraphs ... Sigh.Of course she is caught, switch to chapter 2 and POV of the killer -- who, on chapter 1, was just following her, calling her name like this: Tesssssssssssa! and punching her in the jaw, is now a mess of guilt: what have I done, what have I done?So bad, very bad set up of the psychology. Is this a cold-blooded psycho or a man who "loses it" and is sorry? Then the set up of the MCs -- Morgan has three kids. Lost her soldier husband, lives with Grandpa, trying to get back to her job but is insecure. Please, wake me up when this gets more exciting. Zzzzzzzzz-zzzzzzzzzz.Lance is en ex-cop and has an injury and a trauma. Now he is a PI so we get a perfunctory scene of "Lance" doing PI work and stopping a woman from shooting her husband; Lance thinking of Morgan who was his high school (or something) GF and the usual thinking of her sweet body and how he can't keep his head around her. Ay, ay, ay.Then Tessa is dead and they think it was Nick the neighbor's kid. Morgan gets involved and gets Lance involved. They think a lot about each other as Morgan's daughters eat pancakes. Then there is an unexciting mystery investigation, with the POV of the killer and his twitching curtain; his psychology is no better and the thousand one-sentence paragraphs by this time are getting incredibly annoying. Pearls of human insight such as "But love has its dark side. Jealousy. Possession."Really? The resolution is the stuff of one of the lesser crime shows on TV with a hostage situation and a lot of exposition by a dying man literally grabbing the MC by the shirtfront to spew out paragraphs of the truth. There is meant to be a twist, but there isn't one, not really. We get the usual, "Oh, maybe we have too much emotional baggage" from the MCs at the end, but with the conclusion "But she fits so nicely against me." -- so that we know there will be some storms ahead for them, which I doubt will lift the romance above the soporific, yet is meant to keep us reading the next and next.If you add unexciting romance (AND I AM NOT THE ALPHA MALE/ SMUT TYPE OF READER) to loads of family everyday description to a mystery that isn't really mysterious to very simple writing with irritating quirks and repetitions to all possible clichés to (and to me most unforgivable in a crime story) bad insight into human psychology ... well, one wonders HOW this book has been a best-seller in mystery and romantic mystery/suspense for so long.

Insufferable romance novel masquerading as a crime novel
The mystery is solid but Im beginning to loathe these crime novels that seem to spend as much time on the romance aspect as the actual mystery. We get it. The protagonist is a hot woman so therefore she needs a dude to salivate over her in order to be compelling. Except not. If you like your crime novels with a heaping side of goopy romantic stares and thin reflections on hot men and women, this is the book for you.

I should have known better. If you are into suspense thriller types reads this is not the one for you. Just another poorly written shlocky "romantic thriller, don't waste your money."

Easy breezy fun little whodunnit mystery, excellent narrator
I listen to audiobook mysteries during my commute and while I do housework. I am really picky about narrators and this one was great. I also enjoyed the story - nothing too complicated or even particularly original, just good fun. I love the relationship between the two leading characters and the whodunnit mystery did keep me guessing until the end. Would make a perfect summer beach read.

Morgan Dane - Lance Kruger Book One
I just now finished "Say You're Sorry." This book kept me awake as I couldn't put it down.Just wanted to tell someone, anyone, what a good book. So well writtenI'll write a review (or try to). The book was so good I'm not sure I'll do it justice...but I'll try. I fell in love with the characters...and wonder of wonders I didn't figure out who the culprit was until the author wanted me to. Most of the time I can figure it out but not this time. There was never a dull moment.I wish I didn't have to wait until September for "Her Last Goodbye" to see what Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger have to deal with.

Really Lame
I wanted to like this but writing is amateur. Describing Morgan’s attire, she was wearing sweater, jeans and brown boots on her feet. Where else would you wear boots?

bloody
I bought the first 4 books on my e-reader in March 2018. It was a monthly recommend and a author I was not familiar with so thought I would read her books as she had good reviews that I looked at. I read the first chapter of this book and could not go any further. I am not overly squeamish and enjoy crime shows but not slasher movies. Which was my impression this book was. I have removed them from my e-reader and will be more selective with books by authors I do not know.

... realised it was a series and while it was fine to read as a standalone
I actually read the second book in this series before I realised it was a series and while it was fine to read as a standalone, it was nice to then read this one and get the backstory on Morgan and Lance, which obviously continues in the subsequent book (although they're tackling a new crime). I really enjoyed this book and the twists and turns before the mystery is solved. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the second book in the series but that's largely my fault for coming to it out of sequence! It's also testament to the fact that the author's writing has evolved between the two books. This is a good read and a good start to the series and I'm really excited to read the third and fourth books!

Decent enough read, but nothing spectacular
I enjoyed the book and finished it fairly quickly, however for me there were a few things that spoiled it in my opinion. The romance was boring and cheesy and too much time was wasted on descriptions of how the lead characters felt about each other- I got it in the beginning, didn't need it going over 20 more times, it was obvious they were going to get together, but if I wanted to read a romance I'd have read Mills and Boon. The murder storyline was better and the reason I continued with the book, but the end twist a bit odd and unbelievable, and all very quickly resolved and tied up neatly- especially as the ramifications of both girls being abused by separate peadophiles simultaneously without either of them telling anyone- or each other was also a bit much and I felt should have been dealt with in more depth than it was.

Promising start to this series
The plot easy to follow and I love the lead Character Morgan Dane. Morgan a former prosecutor who married a soldier and has 3 daughters he has been killed in action and she has moved back to her hometown and settles for a life with her father and concentrates on bringing up her daughters. She is also from a family who work in the law. Her Father a retired police officer, her brother is a SWAT officer and her younger sister Stella a detective.Morgan is content with her girls and feels ready to go back into the workforce. She is has an interview with a prominent prosecutors firm and gets the job but before she is due to start one of her babysitters is killed. The person who the police have made their minds up is the culprit Nick is well known to Morgan and family. The true culprit is from a family that money is not an object.Morgan knows in her heart he is not guilty and decides to defend him for free as Nick’s father has minimal funds. With the help of her ex cop Lance turned private detective they decide to investigate. Morgan has to turn down the job with the prosecutors office and even though she knows it’s a big risk she ploughs on even with some of the town against.Morgan and Lance uncover so many dark twists and turns it is definitely worth a read.

Well worth 99p
When I reviewed 'Midnight Exposure' by Melinda Leigh I said I would not bother to read another of her books. Yet here I am, having read 'Say You're Sorry' and feel able to say that I much prefer this one. It was easy enough to read, in that it flowed pretty well, despite considerable repetition in places, and the plot was interesting and not overworked. Because of the undercurrent of love interest I think it will predominantly appeal to female readers! Well worth 99p though.

A good start to the series
I enjoyed this one. The writer established a good emotional connection with the main characters and the story was well plotted. On the negative side the ending seemed rushed and the killer spilled the beans a little too easily once cornered. Also Morgan's home life seemed a little too perfect - three very small girls who had lost their dad and rarely saw their mum would not be anything like so angelic for an elderly grandfather and a teenage babysitter.

Say You’re Sorry - Book 1 - No Spoilers
First time reading any books by this author and I wasn't disappointed.Gripping book from start to finish. This book (Say You’re Sorry – Book 1) was fast paced and I didn't guess the ending. The suspense throughout kept me wondering who did it. It was a surprise when all was revealed.I have downloaded her second book today and can’t wait to get stuck into it.If you enjoy twists and turns, you will not be disappointed.

Say You're Sorry
It was brilliant from start to finish. No long-winded, nonsense storyline fillers. It was pointed, yet very climactic. Didn't see that ending. I'm a fan!

Wonderful read
As soon as I began reading this book, I knew I would find it difficult to put down. Who killed Tessa? Have they arrested the wrong man? Morgan - a D/A - think they have. Turning down work as a P.A. to become a D.A. Morgan asks Lance - a former cop turned P.I. - to help her prove that Nick - the accused - is innocent.I Loved following every twisted path and route in this book. Full of surprises and red-herrings.

Can't wait for the rest of the series!
I bought and finished this book series with 3 days - with the remainder of the series pre-ordered.Say You're Sorry has you second-guessing who the bad guy is with a building romance between Lance and Morgan doesn't overshadow the main storylines but evolves with it and moves at a healthy pace as the characters get closer. With the secondary characters who are just as important as the main kept nobody being forgotten.I could not put these books down so if you enjoy twists and turns, you will not be disappointed.

Great detective story, suspense and romance combined
Morgan is no girly girl and her skills as a deective and lawyer combined with the ability to look after herself are a potent mix but she is still a woman. Lance is the perfect partner for her both professionally and romantically ! Looking forward to the next installment.

Enjoyable read
This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was good. Not being used to her style of writing it took a while to get into the story, but once there I enjoyed it. Would definitely read the other Morgan Dane books in the series.

Gripping whodunit
I liked this one, gripping from the get go. Don't want to say much as it will spoil the experience. Well written with good characters and dialogue. Really good research into the legal system.Deals with strong subjects, murder, rape and peril with friendship and romance thrown in too. Worth a look.

Love, love, love this book
A brilliantly told thriller of a book mixed with the sweetest romance. The last few chapters left me gobsmacked, then I was crying & then finished me off cheering with a fist pump & a big smile.
