Review: Intense fun! - Such a simple game that the very youngest can play (no dice, just coloured card to pick up and move counter to) but still enjoyable enough for older players. Though simple, it ends up becoming very intense when you're nearing the finish but get a picture card that takes you back! Lots of groans and laughter in this game making it a family favourite for us! Lovely stylish box too!

**Q: Which is closer to the original: this one or the retro edition?**

This Vintage Bookshelf Edition has graphics designed based on the 1978 edition.  If you're comparing this one to the Retro Edition, it would seem that product is based on the 1967 edition of Candy Land.  

There were 3 versions before these 2, 1949, 1950s, and 1962.  

Which one is closer to the original?  I think that's a little subjective.  

I'd recommend searching the web for images of each of the year's editions and comparing the graphic styles for yourself.

Such a simple game that the very youngest can play (no dice, just coloured card to pick up and move counter to) but still enjoyable enough for older players. Though simple, it ends up becoming very intense when you're nearing the finish but get a picture card that takes you back! These board games are so cute! We own an Airbnb/VRBO rental and, while guests appreciate having board games available, I don't like the junky look of stacked board games, so I had all of our games hidden in drawers, out of sight from our guests. When I discovered these bookshelf board games, with the ability to store them in plain sight without detracting from the decor, I had to order them. While they seem a little pricey at first, the quality is sound, and I believe that we will get a great return on our investment, as guests will have a fun activity to enjoy in the home.
