Shakespeare Youth Fishing Rod and Spincast Reel Kits

For her first ever fishing adventure, I got her this fishing pole. I started with something similar with a blue & white Mickey one. The "princess" part was one measly sticker that will probably peel off soon. The cardboard packaging had more of the princesses on it than the fishing pole.Underwhelming princess aspect aside, which doesn't affect the functionality or performance and quality, so it's nbd, the fishing rod & reel were easy to use & designed well. She practiced casting the day before with the practice weighted fish.To everyone's surprise, she caught (then released) 6 fish her first time fishing. The fish were hungry. My husband caught some fish with her fishing pole also. He said it was easy if not easier than his to cast & reel in. Of course, it's meant for smaller hands and smaller fish. And perfect for this fishergirl who can't wait to go again.

I attach cat toys to it and play inside and outside with my cats. It works great in a big room or down the hallway and my cats love to run after it.

This casting rod is super easy to use, and it’s great fun for playing with cats and kittens.I recommend wrapping the fish sinker with fabric or padding because it’s too hard for a cat to hold in its mouth. Take care to not cast at the cat! I know this rod is meant for small children, and I think it would be great fun for them, especially if they have loved ones that fish. How exciting to have their own rod and go fishing with parents or grandparents!-easy to use-lightweight-perfect size for a small child-great value for the money, especially if purchased via daily dealOnly drawbacks I can see:-cannot restring the line reel; though I haven’t tried-does not float-probably not strong enough to reel in a big fish.-the sinker fish enclosed is really hard. If child has poor aim, could easily bean someone on the head— USE PARENTAL GUIDANCEDefinitely a 5 star product. I would have loved this as a kid.

Wanted a Mickey rod for my almost 3 year old - since that’s what I started out with. A lot of reviews said this was just for practice or that really young couldn’t use this as a real rod. Nope - fully functional toddler fishing pole! The casting fish is great when they are ready to start attempting to cast on their own in the backyard. Easy to rig up. Does NOT come with any type of hook or tackle. Grab a hide-a-hook bobber set (the Shakespeare one I grabbed was already rigged and I just had to tie it on to the end). Perfect for starting creek and pond fishing!I will note that while this was perfect, I am looking at a different rod for when we go to the beach and fish in the saltwater creeks. The line on this is fine, but those flounder hit quick and it can be a big guy. I’m not looking to test the line weight. We’ll get a more professional/heavy weight rig for that trip!If you have littles or grands you want to take old school creek or pond fishing - this does the trick magnificently! Out of the packaging, hook/bobber/weight tied on and had a brim on the line within 15 seconds of our hook hitting the water. Can’t beat that for a lucky starter rod!

It’s just as it has been, my two boy learned to fish with this combo. Not it’s time to teach my grandson and then my granddaughter.

lasted a couple months, cats wore it out, found a nicereal one, Zebco, same size 1/2 price so far its holding up.

We purchased this fishing rod for our 4 year old son and he loves it. The rubber fish makes it easy for him to practice casting.

A charm to fish wiith

Super flimsy, the reel container is only screwed in on one side so when we tried to attach a (really light) toy, the container slipped around and cracked on the opposite side. Not even worth it to teach a kid the basics of fishing or for a toy.
