I think the “garage” version can. Some of the descriptions of this product say it can be cut down...it can’t (unless you have some pretty serious tools, which I don’t have). I think the “garage” version can pretty easily. I trusted the description and purchased two of the 40” rails that I can’t do much with. This product has NO OTHER length options which doesn’t make sense because the Add-on shelves are 26” so it would have been smart for Rubbermaid to make the rail to accommodate two shelves side by side or make a rail that is 30”. Not user-friendly at all. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product, I will buy more..... *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 7 November 2017* I bought this because I trust the brand name. I am not sure that it is the best in the market, but since I know they are a reputable company that generally makes good products, I made the decision to buy a number of FastTrack components to better organize my garage. I am extremely pleased with the quality. I should mention that I had previously purchased a Home Depot (HDX) product that left me extremely disappointed with the quality (the plastic warped and everything fell to the ground even though I had gone under the weight and secured well to the wall). I was lucky that my car ws not in the garage at the time of I may have had damage to the car. Because of that, I wanted a better quality product, and I think this product is. The metal frame that offers a number of secure spots to attach to a stud as well as between studs with teh wall anchors feels really sturdy and secure. I will buy a number of other rails, shelves and attachments as I finish out the garage organization project.. The one thing that Rubbermaid could do, in my opinion, is create even more accessory add-ons, a peg board wall kind of thing to store tools securely. I did not buy the cabinet that is available because it does not look like good quality to me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Somewhat hard to install *by E***C on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 22 October 2021* Pros: this rail is very sturdy and is compatible with the rest of the Rubbermaid system.Cons: there aren’t enough pre-drilled holes to mount to studs. I had to drill my own (would recommend clamping the rail to a workbench) and then had to use a hack saw to cut off about 5” so that it could fit into my closet. There’s another Rubbermaid rail that Amazon sells which has way more pre-drilled holes.
