If you’re *that* concerned, though, I would just put them on a silicone mat— the unfinished ceramic, while smooth, does have a fine to medium grit (the “non-skid” feature)- it could possibly scuff hardwood flooring… again, just like a coffee mug! Functionally, Its semi-low profile (much wider than tall with slightly splayed/widening upper walls) which helps stabilize it— and Its got a bit of weight to it, too! It’s sturdy, but if you have a large dog, they could likely move it around some… my Maltese can nudge it just a skosh—if they’re excited! Ha I do want to mention, though- I really do adore this bowl! It was no-doubt a great purchase! … loved it so much that I bought the treat canister after receiving it!… **Q: how many cups of food can it hold?** A: These are good quality bowls, but the "small" is large. It is 5-3/4" across, 2" deep & holds 2-1/2 cups to the rim. **Q: how many ounces does this hold?** A: 12-13 oz. canned food **Q: how many cups of dry dog food does the large hold?** A: I am unaware of there being different sizes to the bowls?
