Instead of one five pound block, there are four 1.25 pound blocks pressed together, and the entire amount was wrapped. It made it very easy to break them apart and wrap individually.The tamarind is 100% pure with no additives. It contains the entire fruit, minus the hard seeds, including the pulpy and fibrous parts. It is naturally sweet and tart - delicious. Because this paste does not appear to be processed, there might be a bit of husk or shell bit.I purchased this 6/17, and the label notes it was produced 2/17 with an expiration date of 2/19.
