A: Absolutely NOT! The item is EXCLUSIVELY for keeping food hot, Not for heating it. I made the mistake of putting it on an electric burner and the Styrofoam insulation puffed up and destroyed the container.

Love this. Keeps food hot. I bought it to put food in straight off of the grill to the table. Holds about 8 thick hamburgers. If you have a lot you need a bigger one
