Review: A little expensive (though understandable given the quality) and rather slow delivery (though as it comes from the US rather than the UK, also understandable!) But all in all this stuff is great. I was able to make the batch up a couple days ago and after storing in a reasonably sized storage container, this stuff is said to last indefinitely and not mold as long as you mix it about every few days. It feels and smells extremely clean and isn't dusty, doesn't give splinters and is relatively simple to make though I'd advise having a 50L storage box on hand and making it all at the same time. No instructions on how much water to add but I've found if you tear open the bag and add the water straight into it that seems to work! Absorbs water AMAZINGLY and easy to control the amount of water you add too. I was worried that it would up the humidity in my corn snake vivarium to 100% (as I've used a different brand before that did so) but it was very easy to make it expand but also not be sopping wet. Also brilliant for ball python vivariums too (the reason I bought it in the first place) as you can add as much water as you need and it'll keep on absorbing. A lot of waffle in the end from me but if there's one take away, it's that this stuff is the good stuff and if the delivery wasn't so slow I'd probably make it my normal brand!

**Q: Is this stuff 100% mite and insect free?**
A: I have had pretty serious mite problems since I tried ReptiChip. Not pathogenic snake mites, just the little wood mites/grain mites that can infest insect cultures. There are several other reviews indicating this was not an isolated incident on my end.

**Q: Why does it bleed red and is the bleeding from red dye????  Or is it just the nature colors bleeding**
A: Coconut shells have natural tannins, which leach when wet. It is completely harmless to your animals, and some animals (especially aquatic species) actually prefer the presence of tannins. In nature, it's called "black water" and is common especially in the Amazons and SE Asia. Coconuts, Indian almond leaf, certain woods, and several other natural sources of plant matter are the cause of this staining. If you were to soak/boil a 100% organic coconut's she'll, you would experience the same effect. It will lower the pH of water, but should not effect an terrestrial animal in any negative fashion. I hope this helps.

**Q: Is this 100% coconut because the one I got smells like fir or cypress is in it ....?**
A: Yes, this is 100% chipped coconut husk with no added fillers.

**Q: Is reptichip good/safe for baby columbian rainbow boa's and how much of layer of substrate to put down? Is a lil over a inch good or more.**
A: It's will work fine for a Columbian rainbow and about an inch would be be plenty. Just make sure to keep it moist.

A little expensive (though understandable given the quality) and rather slow delivery (though as it comes from the US rather than the UK, also understandable!) But all in all this stuff is great.
