After reading reviews on this product, I decided that adding a lens hood wouldn't hurt, and it was cheaper than most other lens covers that were sold separately.The lens cover fits very secure and actually performs better than the manufacturers cover. The lens hood added a level of security to the lens from blunt force impacts, and as this is my primary lens, it stays on my camera most of the time. I have not had any lens flares, which is probably a good thing. But to be honest, I didn't have any before I installed the lens hood.The lens hood is a little difficult to tighten down if you have large fingers, as the threaded assembly sits lower than the hood and the lens with very little space to tighten it down. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quite good and does the job! *by L***N on Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2018* I'm always misplacing, losing or breaking lens hoods. Okay, lots of folks never use them. But all serious photo snappers do. First, to shield the lens and prevent lens flare. Okay, everyone knows about the flare.But I've habits that are a throwback to my days as a wedding photographer, a long time ago and far, far away.As such I always kept a skylight filter on every lens as first line protection against damage to the front element of the lens. The hood is another element of protection.So while I've broken filters and hoods, I've never lost a lens.But these work well, with one issue for me. They'll screw into a Nikkor lens easily, but are sometimes difficult or impossible to screw into a Tiffen filter. I can't explain it, but I can work around it. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Works but has a minor issue with the zoo Nikon lens *by A***B on Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2018* Got this for my Niion AF-s 18-55 zoom lens. It is OK and when adjusted won't cut off part of the image with a 3/4 size chip camera. But the front of that specific lens rotates as you focus so the shade won't continue to line up. You can slightly loosen the hood and hold the hood so it won't rotate with the lens. But this is not ideal of course. Sadly that is an issue for any lens that has a rotating front part.
