However, the teeth on these drums are one-directional and are generally more for "shredding". They do not have the traditional grater teeth you would see on an upright grater which will grate in any direction and turn hard foods pretty much completely into powder. Metal imitations did not work well (bent and made black marks on cheese). This one does a good job so far. For plastic, it is well made.
