The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

**Q: Are these waterproof?**
A: No.  But if u mink oil them they will repel water for a bit.

**Q: Where are these boots made?**
A: The boots are made in China

**Q: Are these boots made in the USA?**
A: Mine say made in China also...and yes, it is sad.  If they were made in the USA maybe they wouldn't be as poorly constructed.  One of the insoles wore out almost immediately at the toe end.  Because the insoles aren't interchangable, I've put up with annoying foam wear spots for two years.  You would think for the money, the insoles would either be removable or leather.  I tried to put in inserts, but it just made the boot too snug and more uncomfortable.  Also, the stiching around the heel area of the boot has come loose on both boots.  Anyway. they are a good looking boot in a hard to find style, but they are way over-priced in my opinion and that was when the were priced at about $185...I just saw recently that they are now in the $250 range.
