This gripe is very minimal. Replacement frequency really depends on how much my dog drinks and gets the water dirty. Anywhere from 2-4 weeks is what I typically see. Visually it does do a pretty good job keeping the water cleaner. It also helps debris from clogging the pump. Overall great buy.
