First impressions are pretty good for the price point; yes, the side panel is quite thin, transparent material, but they are well-elasticated to fit protector to the mattress, which is its function. The top of the protector is thin Terry towelling with shiny, "waterproof" reverse coating. My daughter spilt a few drops of drink and it protected the mattress, but it has yet to have a proper "test", like a wee! On a positive note, it is comfy to lay on and doesn't make annoying, plastic wrinkly noise. It is a plastic coating after all, not a sheet of plastic in itself. Also, it has a deep fitting, and my daughter's 14cm deep mattress had significant spare material when fitted which was pulled tight under the mattress (see Photo 2).
