Low key without being boring. Really cool artsy chapter intros. Lots of really good detail. I had previously made two pairs of turnshoes, and they were OK. They were comfortable and pretty good for historical re-enactments purposes. Those earlier ones gave me a basic understanding of how turnshoes are made and how it feels to wear them, but they didn't last very long because I didn't really have the full grasp of all the pattern drafting details and construction tricks. This video filled in all the blanks. This third pair I made after watching the video is a whole 'nother beast. They fit my funky feet and look good enough to wear around, not just for the historical costume. Looking forward to putting some miles on them, and I'm already getting psyched to make a looser-fitting pair with taller tops for winter. I love to figure things out myself but in this case I wish I had the video sooner. Both turned out great and we're already planning our next pair now that we know what we're doing. The instructor on the DVD is excellent, and turns out also willing to field random questions from people using the DVD. The animations are really neat and the "music" is really interesting. Rumor has it, they may be working on another DVD for a different style.
