The glass globe got knocked over from the base within a week as the wood has almost no groove to help it stay put. Shattered into a lot of sharp pieces. I took some photos of my own to try and give a better idea of what it looks like (it's harder than I realized to take a decent photo of a light). I took a photo of it at it's brightest setting and dimmest setting. The photos were taken in a large room in the late afternoon.1) It really does look very nice. The random nature of the lights captured by the glass enclosure makes it really nice interesting just to look at. I meditate with my eyes closed, but I can see this light being a great point of focus for people who do so with their eyes open.2) It has multiple levels of brightness. It gets surprising bright and can be dimmed low enough that you can easily look directly at it without eyestrain. It's not going to be bright enough to light a room very effectively, but it will work well as a bedside light.3) I think it would work very well as a replacement for a candle on restaurant dinner tables. There's definitely a romantic air to it.4) It can run on batteries... kinda. We used it on a warm evening as light for our patio table. The unit can be powered by USB so I plugged it into one of those portable cell phone power banks... and it worked great. The lamp produces absolutely no heat so I suspect it will last a very long time using this kind battery.5) The dome really is made of glass and it's reasonably thick. It's not going to survive a drop, but it is thicker than I was expecting at this price point.6) Open the box carefully... I nearly broke it. The glass dome is packaged in a plastic in a plastic bag. That bag clung to the styrofoam packaging and ... long story short... I am apparently a secret ninja and managed to catch it.7) I TOOK A POINT OFF FOR THE CONTROLLER. It's not at all obvious to figure out how to work it and the very brief instructions are of little help.
