My forge is brand new and self built from a 5 gal air tank. Its insulated with 1" of ceramic fiber and has 1" firebrick on the bottom. I have been into knife making about 3 weeks now and started with a small brick forge for heat treating but it did not work very well. So, a new one was built and this burner was bought to use in it.The first few tries with this burner were a bit disappointing, it sputtered a lot and sometimes went out. This was found out to be due to operator error and/or forge design. The regulator that came with this burner confused me in it operation and the forge did not have enough exhaust and was causing a back pressure problem with the burner.After re-reading the instructions that came with the burner the proper operation was understood. The regulator should be turned off by turning it counter clockwise fully before opening the tank valve. Once the tank valve is opened the regulator can be turned clockwise to allow propane to flow. This regulator turns off flow completely when fully counter clockwise. With a long lighter in the forge and then turning the regulator on the forge light with no problem and the regulator could be adjusted to any pressure.The problem with the forge was remedied by removing the front cover and opening the back cover completely after removing the firebrick that I has standing in the back. This allowed the burner to breath better due to reducing/eliminating back pressure with better exhaust. The sputtering issue was resolved.This morning with a cold forge a 1/8" thick knife blade was brought to full transition temp in slight over 4 minutes. This was using 12 psi and adjusting the choke to a slight open position. Excellent.I took a picture this evening of the forge and burner in operation and it is included here. With the proper installation and exhaust the burner is performing well.Overall, this is an excellent burner and of good quality stainless steel build. After a rough start due to no fault of the burner the forge is operating very well and I'm pleased with the purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Hard to control *by M***T on Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2021* I gave this 3 stars due to air regulator portion of this burner. Overall, the materials used were high quality, but the design of the air regulator could have used a little more thought. The holes are so big that there is very limited space to put the set screw. Also after several separate attempts, I still have not been able to get a consistent correctly burning flame.
