They do help with the smell but once the carbon has exhausted its hard to get replacements bur I've used activated carbon granules in a mesh bag which works. I have amended my review in response to this. Once I receive the new ones I will update again. After a successful charge and use one of the purifiers will now not charge and there’s a smell and heat coming from near the charging port.
