It works just fine as is stable.
In spite of what you might read, this mount is rock steady, stable and works 100%. It has no instructions. The FIRST one I did, I began disassembling the entire damned camera until I realized I was screwing up. The first one took me an hour and the 2nd one took me like 5min. On the 823A it's waaay easier than you think. The original wall mount has three screws on the top that you CANNOT see because they are sealed with silicone caulking (for the IP rating I suppose). Extract that with, whatever, and expose the three philips heads screw beneath it. Undo those, cut the two zip-ties, unscrew the ground screw and unplug the cable from the header on the pcb and pull it through. Then reverse the procedure. Zip ties arent a must - but I had some. Replacement caulking/sealant isn't a must, but certainly a consideration; if you have it on this mount - you're mounting to something overhead that's protecting it from liquid incursion anyway.. In the end you have a rock solid mount that does exactly what you wanted it to do. Cheers..

It’s unassembled.
Just an FYI… this bracket comes unassembled and without instructions. While instructions are not needed to assemble this, they should provide instructions on how to mount to the camera as it requires you un clip a couple of cable tie wraps and disconnect the cable to remove the wall mount and replace with this one.The mount is metal and seems of decent quality.

You have to detach the cable from the camera to attach this bracket !!
You need to have technical knowledge to install this bracket. The cable cannot be pulled through the original wall bracket, the opening it too small for the plugs to fit through. You have to clip two nylon zip ties, unplug the cable and detach the ground wire and then you can slide that end through the bracket. Then do it in reverse to attach the ceiling bracket.Needs detailed instructions with photos for non technical people.

it does the job
The quality of the bracket is very good, but its not as convenient to use with the RLC-823A as i thought it would be, the camera pigtail doesn't come out easy from the wall mount and doesn't go in easy with the ceiling mount. There are a few steps you have to take to remove the wire completely, pull it out of the old bracket, run it through the new one and then reconnect it back with zip ties, this is fairly easy for techs to do but its annoying there's no way i'm doing that for every camera. Plus if for any reason you mess this up and your camera doesn't work you could potentially not get a refund since you damaged the camera. Just stick with the bracket it comes with or find another one.

DOES NOT FIT RLC-823A 16X
Just a word of caution - this mount does not fit the RLC-823a 16X camera! The 16x camera has a larger diameter top than then other RLC-823a model....so this mount will not directly fit the 16x camera. Somewhat misleading since both cameras share the same basic model number.
