I have my doubts that I could put a sweatshirt or jacket on under it. I haven't used it yet, so we'll see. The pockets look useful; since I'll be using it to carry keys, my phone, and maybe bug spray or a small hex wrench/screw driver set when I ride my recumbent trike, that's a plus. Since I'm losing weight, the tightness should only be an issue at the start; if I weren't, it would be a problem, since I don't want to wear it open and have it flapping around.
