I tuned and tuned on my Yamaha receiver, YAPO, dialog lifting, treble lifting, you name it; and I've heard so much about Elac I wondered if my receiver was just not good. (For the record my hearing also tests just fine too!) Audio was muffled and I struggled to hear things clearly and I was never happy from day one. I kept the setup for one year, then decided to get this center and the matching Emotiva B1's also and see what I thought.Well I know know I was dumb for waiting to replace the Elac so long, this center is AMAZINGLY better for home theater use! Wow. This center is so clear, I ran YPAO on my receiver once and it was a whole new world. The three way setup of this and the tweeter make for an amazing center experience and it is everything I wanted out of my home theater finally! I would easily recommend this speaker to anyone looking for a quality center. I now play my receiver 10-15db below where I was struggling before with no issues, this really sounds good. Great detail and clarity and I have never really cranked it high enough to hear and limits as I have never needed to. I am very happy to have found Emotiva.The only downside? Maybe the Batmobile looks it has, but in person it is not as bad as the pics. Still for a gen two surely they can make it a little more attractive. My Elacs looked a lot better, but then again I want sound and not looks. Great at producing voice/dialogue. Sealed box allows for easy placement near wall and is quite small compared to many speakers that produce this quality of sound. Can play music and quality levels as well if used as a single speaker. Needs a decent receiver or amplifier to drive it. I've paired it with a NAD D 3020 v2 as a single speaker for a TV in a bedroom and it does a great job for night time listening as well as the occasional music session. For the price of this speaker, it is a very good deal and I highly recommend it unless you know you need something better. Highly recommend the Emotiva center channel speakers. Many are too “bright” or muddy until you pass the $700 range. After battling with myself over a martinlogan centerchannel, i decided to look fir others with folded ribbon technology and found these.I have to say I am blown away. Crisp clear dialog, goid amount of bass. No “brightness” or “muddness” even my audiophile ex husband is impressed.It does overpower the B1 bookshelf speakers a bit unless you adjust the levels, but even they are phenominal. So phenominal I just ordered the towers.This is by far better than anything you will find at best buy or magnolia.
