The clear appearance means I can see in real time how much water I've had during my work day. The color is a nice blue color, and it holds a lot of water, which means I only have to fill up in the morning and I'm good for the day. I bought an additional splash guard, by Nalgene specifically, which helps me drink without getting water everywhere. All in all a good simple water bottle. I don't need my water to be ice cold, so I don't need an insulated bottle. It cleaned nicely when I used a cleaning tablet, and my water is clean and clear. The lid is a reliable nalgene lid, and has the handy attachment so I don't lose the lid.
