I had only heard about the noise monitors which seemed creepy. Somebody rents my house and then learns that I put a microphone inside the house? How does it tell the difference between a margarita blender and a party? And lots of parties don't make too much noise. The problem I'm worried about is property damage due to parties (also known as inebriation events)...because that costs me money.I could pay for this service by accepting a higher deductible on my property & casualty insurance...though I figure that preventing parties will do more to keep my rates low than will a higher deductible.iPhone setup is easy. I thought the cords were a little short, but longer cords are cheap to buy. Fortunately, my router is near the center of my house so I didn't need long cables. I haven't yet figured out to what extent the device is going to see cell phones of my neighbors, for example when they're in their backyards or sideyards and closer to my house. I chose a small house to minimize false positivesWhat worries me is the out-of-control >25-person party so I plan to keep the alert threshold pretty high. I'll see how many cell phones the device sees (i.e. neighbors' phones) when my house is empty, and set the alerts accordingly. I really like that I can track activity at the house when I'm travelling. I'll only need to call my local resource to visit the house. I bought the Party Squasher last month before the winter season. My big worry isn't party noise that will bother my neighbors. I'm worried about an unlikely but destructive party that I can't stop by the time I get to the house. My neighbors won't be able to warn me about the party because by the time they hear the noise, the damage will have started. I need early notice.Most short-term rental tenants are good people. They want a few nice nights in the country with beautiful landscapes and a great view of black skies at night. But no matter how hard I try to weed out problem tenants, one is going get through. I've never had a disaster, but now that a solution is available, I don't want to press my luck. I'm willing to invest in a little insurance to prevent abuse by a deceptive tenant.The Party Squisher product isn't a perfect people counter. If I turn off/on my phone, it initially gets counted as multiple phones. But when a dozen people arrive at my property, I know about it. Because my parcel is big, I set the "house size" to large and I get a pretty good real-time estimate of the number of people within 50 feet of the house.
