NO cotton. I ordered (and paid extra for this version of) two 2-packs of the ones described as 100% cotton absorbent terry cloth with waterproof backing. Turns out NONE of them are terry and NONE of them contain ANY cotton!! They are weird super-thin shiny jersey-type knit with super-thin polyurethane backing. Tags say "Fabric: 100% Polyester, Bottom: 100% Polyurethane". I've seen better quality in dollar stores. **Q: Is the weave tight on these? I’m planning to fill them w buckwheat/Millet hulls and i want to make sure the dust/small pieces won’t come thru case** A: I filled mine with Buck wheat hulls and doubled it to make sure. They were advertised as 100% cotton, and I only wanted 100% cotton, When I received them, they were definitely a great 100% cotton... soft, but good, strong, high thread-count cotton material. They have also held up well through multiple washings. Finally, they were stained and worn out, and I needed to replace them.So, when I needed more pillow covers, I ordered these again, this time in a four-pack. It seemed impossible to determine prior to the new purchase whether or not they were still 100% cotton or were a polyester/cotton blend. There was conflicting information on various portions of the listing and photos, but I took the chance and ordered them.I am happy to say that, although they do not have any fabric information (tags,etc.) on them, the ones I received DO APPEAR to be the same 100% cotton covers that I bought previously. I really like them, but there was a problem.As soon as I received them I washed them before use. When I took them out of the dryer I found that two of the four had separated along the long side seam. On closer inspection, I found that it appeared that the seam was defective, having been sewn too close to the edge of the material, so that it frayed and came apart along the seam. The other two seemed to be just fine.Disappointed, I contacted the Seller via Amazon Message, explaining the situation and asking what we could do to resolve it, and received a very prompt (within about two hours) response. Of course, I knew that I could just return them through Amazon for refund or replacement, but it seemed like it would be a waste of expense for the Seller or Amazon to pay the return shipping for a defective product. The Seller was really GREAT about it, and offered to just send me out a new four-pack to replace what I had, and just keep the two good ones from the first package without the need to return them. Two days later, I had the replacements in hand and they were just fine.The bottom line is that, while we all know that even a great product can occasionally have a defective item or two, what really stands out in a case like that is how the merchant handles the problem. I finally decided to open them up and take a closer look. Luckily they had zippers on both the outer and inner liner so I removed nearly a full kitchen garbage bag of fill (I wish I were kidding) and they were still quite firm.What to do with the fill?? Make more pillows!! I bought these shells with a zipper in the end and used a good portion of that leftover fill to make my son a new pillow. With the leftover covers I'll freshen up some of the other ones or maybe make one more full pillow. The shell material is pretty soft. The second time I purchased these I checked the ad, they were still listed ass being cotton. But when I washed them for the first time a couple of months later, they didn’t wash like cotton. They get pilly and the fabric is very stiff. Using these under a cotton pillow case, these make pillows scratchy. My skin has always been delicate and if I sleep on my stomach with my face on the pillow, my face is raw the next morning and my eyes are rubbed red by the pillow. I recently tried another brand of pillow protector that is cotton and found that I do not have the same results. No, I don’t like silk pillow cases. I prefer cotton. Good cotton sheets and linens are silky and cold when you get into bed, but they warm up quickly in cold weather, they let your skin breathe because they aren’t made of plastic like microfiber, and they are soft against the skin.I’m sorry to say that I’m donating these to the thrift store. Two are unused. The first set was good.
