Using it with a universal joint between drive shaft to precent any misalignment problems when began to over heat. Built this to use on a filament winder but failure was with no load merely driving gears on winder. No binding no problem turning with out motor. Motor just can not run long do to problems with gear box making a lot of noise from the start. Took me a while to test this due to other priorities and no ability to return. I do not suggest this motor for any voltage due to gear box. this was the third motor i have purchased sent one back due to excessive gear box grinding and noise other runs hot but use it with a fifty percent duty cycle to keep from burning up. Vendor recommended changing the power supply to five amps and you can bet if i do this I will use a fast blow fuse as a precaution as I am not sure why this is now required they indicated they would update their description on the motor in desertcart. Vendor was very supportive and recently not only sent me a refund without my requesting it, but is sending me a replacement for evaluation and I will be again updating this review based on the results. They believe that the motor gears were damaged which makes sense as i detected as previous noted oil covering the motor upon receipt. The power consumption would be better expressed in milliwatts. The current drawn will depend on the load. Mine is easily driven by a 12V 13Amp computer power supply. **Q: Can this be used as a 12 volt generator for a turbine? If so what would be the amp put out be?** A: I don’t think that will work since this is a gear drive motor. This motor’s shaft is locked by the gears until the motor is energized. I think what you’re looking for is a standard DC motor with no gearbox. **Q: These motors seem interesting but the torque isn't listed anywhere and I cannot find a Greartisan website. Where is this information?** A: I had the same question and ended up calculating the torque.
