If they take a corner with some speed, the front tire will slide out from underneath them, and they will wipe out. I ended up replacing the slick, foam tires with some rubber ones from another bike I picked up from a yard sale. If your child will only be using this outside, then you have no worries at all, other than if they're riding on concrete a lot, the foam tends to wear out pretty fast, but of course, they sell replacement tires. Go figure. The second negative. The foot pegs, or the plastic piece where kids are supposed to place their feet when they are riding downhill. At the beginning when my child was learning this bike, he calves ending up getting irritated because when they push off, the calves will scrap the foot holders. I went ahead and removed them because my child never used them anyways.
