The cute hamster ceramic dust bath's (with the ears on top) were simply too small for these 2, since they do nearly everything together being bonded brothers. :) The Winchesters (as they are sometimes called when they are moving too fast for me to tell them apart - Sam is slightly lighter colored than Dean) sometimes dig into the shell, but no scratches have formed. They also tend to chew on everything, so we couldn't give them a plastic bath, without them chewing it to bits, as is common with gerbils. Dean, in particular, is a very destructive guy, so he tried to chew on the shell, but quickly learned that it was a terrible chew, yet no marks were left on it from the chewing. The shell's curved design allows for easy dust bathing of hard to reach places (Dean always forgets to wash behind his ears, so this helps him get at least some dust back there). It's beautiful, it's roomy for 2 large gerbils, sturdy, durable, and heavy so it won't tip over by overenthusiastic gerbil play! Thank you for a wonderful gerbil dust bath!P.S.
