Who needs a Steinhart?
My new favorite watch. I find the 40mm size to be perfect for me. I have the 42mm Gigandet homage watch but I find the crown sticks into my hand when I bend my wrist. That watch also has no ceramic bezel and no sapphire crystal like the Phoibos. The lume could be a little stronger, but I am spoiled by my Seiko turtles. The weight of the watch is impressive. The sunburst dial is outstanding. The blue ceramic bezel really makes the watch pop. The band is very nice and so is the milled push button clasp, even nicer than my turtles. The high beat Miyota 9015 movement also seems very accurate and has a nice smooth sweep. The crown has a solid sturdy action. Glad I spent 279 on this and not 500 for a Steinhart ocean one which gets the whole watch supplied by Phoibos from China then pops in an ETA movement in Switzerland and sells it as Swiss made for twice the price. Phoibos aims to cut out the middle man, and I am happy they did. They even give you a nice watch box, something on which Seiko could improve on, as well as the bezel and crystal. Very happy with this watch.

Top quality watch! For this price its just amazing, you get a nice ceramic bezel (Unidirectional). Sapphire Crystal and a nice miyota 9015 movement. This watch feels and looks like it would be in the $500 range.

Badly fitted ceramic bezel insert and poor machining and polishing.
This is the second PY007 I purchased from Amazon.com. The first one was the green dial and bezel which I returned after a few days. The green one had the bezel ceramic insert protruding approximately half a millimeter and it was razor sharp. After a couple of weeks, I've decided to purchase the same watch in blue dial and bezel hoping it will not have the same defects. I was so disappointed to find that it has exactly the same defects, the ceramic protrusion. The lugs and the end-links were polished and poorly machined. The bracelet is too loosely fitted on the end-links. As a matter of fact, Invicta watches and other Chinese made watches, i.e., Parnis and Bliger, have much better machining and at a fraction of the cost. The only good thing about these watches was their accuracy which I give credit to Miyota 9015 movement made and regulated in Japan. I wouldn't recommend this watch to anyone at all.

Superior value and excellent fit-and-finish
First off, I saved 20% ($55) by ordering directly from Phoibos' site this holiday season, and fulfillment was still by Amazon! So I didn't officially buy the watch here. The watch itself is a well-made Submariner homage with a rock-solid Miyota 9015 movement that seems to be accurate within about +/- 10 seconds so far. Fit and finish are excellent for this price range. I love the ceramic bezel, which rotates crisply and precisely. The screw-down crown is beautiful, the dial is gorgeous, and the hacking second-hand is smooth. This watch very nearly matches the quality of say, one of my Christopher Ward watches with an Eta 2428 movement, each of which cost me at least double what this did! You can't go wrong, unless you're looking for a *big* watch. This is a medium, classic sized watch at 40 mm, though it looks and feels perfectly substantial with its "oyster" like thick case and deep crown guard.Quibbles: the cyclops over the date is ever so slightly too high on the crystal--maybe about a mm off. This can be adjusted by a watch shop, but I'm not bothering. Also, a few edges on the clasp could stand a very little bit more rounding. Very minor stuff.I think Phoibos should also put the cursive "P" logo found on the crown onto the face. I think they're onto something here--well-executed Chinese manufacturing with (very nearly) Swiss levels of QC! Provided this holds up, I already have my eye on another Phoibos watch...!
