Review: Great entry level trout Spey. - Several years ago I bought a Reddington Crosswater combo because I didn’t want to spend $$$ on an 8 weight that I would seldom use, but I was so pleased with it, I use it more often than I ever thought I would. I had in mind to upgrade to a “better” rod one day, but it hasn’t happened yet. So when I decided to buy a Spey rod for trout I got this 4 wt combo. Arguably the rod, and line (Rio Trout Spey) are worth the asking price, you will likely want to upgrade the reel, although it is serviceable, the case is nice looking and sturdy, comes with a couple of leaders. You could pull this out of the box, tie on a fly, and hit the water.
