A: Yes, this ink is black. You only need a few drops of water. Add drips of water gradually, not too much. It is advisable to add drips of water slowly and grind the ink stick with it and test until you get the right consistency.

**Q: Is the Chinese stamp/seal flat for personalization?  If not, what does the seal say?**
A: The Chinese seal/stamp is flat/blank. Basically you can customise any word you want on it. You can use a Dremel to carve the character you want or even any symbol/icon you like. It's totally up to you. You can also sand it to make it blank and carve new character/symbol/word if you want.

**Q: Are the instructions written in English?**
A: The instructions are all written in English by a native English speaker! It also has pictures to illustrate alongside the instructions.

**Q: Is the stone stone or plastic?**
A: It is stone. As such, it is the heaviest item in the box. Stone is required to be able to grind with the inkstone to create ink. Plastic will not be able to do this.
