Definitely will be either buying a mesh guard to go over top, or making my own. I do recommend it though. I can’t compare to top brands like solo stove, but from my experience it does indeed burn wood and create a “smokeless” fire. Edit: second fire I decided to use pellets. Used half the bag. Very sturdy, produces ample heat, and is aesthetically pleasing. The minor drawbacks would be that the product tends to send embers from any fire and all types of firewood. A quick fix that has worked the few times I have used it is a screen fire pit cover. I also wish the ash catcher underneath was bigger. I received the product slightly damaged.
