Review: Living in a legal-grow state, I decided to try my hand (actually, both) at some cannabis. I'd never really grown anything, previously, other than some houseplants and some mold in the fridge. Even then, it's not so much growing as it is maintaining, so I have to temper my ego a bit, in regards that. Strange thing is, I don't use cannabis, but I had this bizarre desire to see if I could grow it. Why? Wasn't it Bonnie Tyler that sang "...every now and then I get a little bit restless and I dream of something wild'? Ok, she also seems a bit needy in that song, so maybe that's not a great explanation as to why I decided to grow. But I digress - as I did my research on growing cannabis, I started to get a bit frustrated at what I was seeing. In most cases people were discussing having to meticulously measure nutrients, monitor the pH level of their water and soil on a daily basis, test run-offs, flush their grow pots to mitigate salt build up, test slurries, knock three times, daily, on African black-wood planks that had been cut under the harvest moon by albino pygmies, and on and on. Seriously, when you read about some people's experiences growing a strain of weed, that flourishes by itself in nature, they make it sound more complex than the Manhattan Project. Also, from what I read, it seemed like once problems started with their plants, additional issues would spring up from trying to correct the original problem, which created MORE stress and frustration. Nope, if I wanted this level of misery, I'd get married. Or become a Browns fan. So, having done my research and having navigated through the over-abundance of 'bro science' and 'hippie knowledge' that exists on the inter-webs, I decided to try and mimic mother nature as close as I could, which meant finding a quality organic living soil that would let the dirt and plant 'go do that voodoo, that they do, so well.' Which led me to Purple Cow Organics IndiCanja. And let me tell you, the plants loved it...well, I'm assuming, of course, since I don't actually speak to plants. But they grew very quickly, their color was bright and vibrant and they handled the low-stress training and topping that I performed, like a champ (which is more than I can say about some people that I know...you know who you are). The entire lifecycle of the plants was stress-free: I simply watered and that was it. And at no point did I experience a yellow leaf or issues with the plants. Even now, in the 10th week of flower, the plants are vibrant and the leaves are not dying or turning brown. Ok, so I did add a few additional pieces, but I'm not too sure how much it would have/have not impacted the grow, overall. I did add additional perlite and compost to my grow-pot soil and I did use a mycorrhizal fungal when I transplanted the seedlings into their final home (I originally started my seedlings in red solo cups). Also, my water? I boosted it with liquid seaweed and molasses. But really, that was it. The soil does what soil is supposed to do (ah, the secret, exciting life of soil) and the cannabis did its part and I wound up with bushy plants that are happy and healthy. I will also end up with a lot of yield - which means my friends and family are going to have a 'green Xmas' whether they like it or not. Maybe next time I will grow something that I can actually benefit from, like veggies...or maybe a girl friend. Hey, don't judge - it sort of worked in 'Weird Science'.
Review: Best soil out there . Holds water well

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is regular ol tap water ok to use?**
A: I've had excellent results using Tap water, and Chlorine can be bubbled out with an air stone, but most of us also have Chloramine along with Chlorine, and the Chloramine cannot be bubbled out.
I've been using a great product called Prime, from Seachem. It's an aquarium water conditioner that removes Chlorine and Chloramine very well!
Only requires 0.1ml/gallon which I measure with a one ML syringe, no needle, and fill to the 10cc line(100cc in 1ml, marked mostly by 10, 20, 30, up to 100. 10cc/gallon).
The Prime bottle itself has a dropper on the cap that's covered with a sticker which can be removed to measure by the drop. Easily explained on the bottle.
I was originally using R/O water which I'd buy and carry home. Decided to try a small bottle of water conditioner for Betas, I believe, that removed Chlorine and Chloramine, so I wouldn't have to buy and carry water, hopefully..
Wow! I was amazed at how much healthier my plants became. The Calcium, Magnesium, and Iron in the water must have been the difference..? And the soil was very healthy with plenty of Microbes, which leads to incredible defense against other problems, especially stress and insect problems.
I haven't used this soil yet, but I've got to give it a try! And I would never use Tap water without removing the Chlorine, as well as Chloramine.
I'm sure you'd still have some life in the soil, but a thousand times more will remain and work together so well, your root zone can easily handle water pH swings, as I haven't used a pH meter in a few years!
Nothing like great, living, soil. And this is very similar to what I'd make up myself for a pretty high price. I'm excited about this soil and am going to try a few bags as soon as I get a chance!

**Q: Is this mix with regular soil or coco?**
A: Hello, thanks for reaching out! Purple Cow IndiCanja is a compost-based growing mix that can be referred to as a "super soil" however it contains neither topsoil nor coco. It does contain all of the necessary nutrients and minerals to take your plant from seed to harvest with no inputs other than water.

**Q: Can I add organic lobster compost and living worm castings to it?**
A: Hi Jory,

Our soil blend is designed with all of the fertility needed to take your plant from seedling to harvest, so no additional inputs are necessary. We've found that adding fertility inputs can actually lead to plant burn because there's so much already present in the soil mix. If you would like to use an amendment, we recommend using a liquid biological like our CX-1 to make the nutrients present in IndiCanja more available rather than adding more fertilizer. Thanks for the question!

**Q: Is the bone meal and poultry litter used in this soil sourced from organic farms? I emailed the company with no response so i would assume not**
A: I would think so, but no response from the company isn't good at all.
They've answered other questions, so maybe because of The 4th of July?
I was hoping this was a "Hot" soil, as it surely sounded like it. Ocean Forest by Fox farms is too hot, I've been told, and they don't claim that.
I was thinking of adding a bag of this to some Pro Mix, then feeding lightly, organic liquid nutes, and boosting it during flower.
Hopefully someone from Purple Cow will give an answer. I wish Big Roots was sold here, but it may be in California only.
I'm no Bio Research Scientist, lol, unless that just means playing with your Guano?
WHERE YOU AT PURPLE COW? UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ARE SEEN AS YOUR HIDING? I KNOW IT'S A LONG WEEKEND, SO HOPEFULLY YOU CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION.
ALMOST ORDERED A BAG OR TWO, UNTIL THIS QUESTION..?
HOPEFULLY YOU'LL BE BACK SOON WITH AN ANSWER. MANY BLESSINGS TO ALL!
