This one is much smaller and lighter and only uses one double a battery as opposed to two like the old model which used two. The mic is clear and Had no feedback when I tested it by speaking about 5 inches from a 15 inch speaker with horn. The only problem is that there is no battery level indicator to show how low the battery level is. So I was in the middle of a speaking engagement and the battery died. Very embarrassing. I hope that AKG would fix this problem.
