It looks very nice, the MDF base is finished to look almost like real wood. It has a reproduction of the original maker's badge on the base, but there is enough room that one could add a small additional inscribed plate to make a special award or trophy. It is NOT illuminated (might be an interesting project to add an LED, and it does not fold down to as compact a package as one might expect. I also found the adjusting screws had a tendency to loosen when moving the arm around (probably just like the original) However it was easy to adjust otherwise. The lens seemed to be quite clear and did a good job of magnification. From a purely functional standpoint, a more modern design with LED illumination, and an easier to use positioning system might be better.
