I have a open one bedroom so somewhere around 500sq ft. I put this together - actually very simple to do and shoved the hoses out my crank window. I didn't have the opportunity to get it all sealed up as I am actually moving to another apartment but I needed to do something fast. I can tell you that within minutes of plugging it in I could already feel very cold air push out of it. I did place a fan in front of the unit to help circulate the air quickly. In about 30 minutes the temperature in my apartment dropped 8 degrees and about 45min to 1 hour it was down to 75. It eventually dropped to about 71 and held. This thing worked amazing even without having it set up properly. I can imagine if I had it sealed off in the window the temperature would have dropped quicker and probably lower. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quiet but not THAT quiet (HSP review) *by G***S on June 2, 2019* I am an extreme shopper when it comes to trying to find items that fit my sensitivities. HSP here. If noise is an issue, continue to read.There are a lot of posts that talk about the sound of a fan. Well, even on low, most fans are too noisy for peaceful sleep in my world. I have two expensive fans that are as quiet as they get...and they can still be annoying at times.This AC seems well built. The instructions are simple and clear. The window kit is complete-ish. I got more foam as they didn't give a full window's worth. But it's inexpensive and easy to come by here on Amazon.The pieces for the window will not necessarily fit. I had to have one of the pieces cut (I don't have the tools for this job, but a local hardware store was kind enough to make the cut for me) in order to fit my window. It's a fairly normal window and there was no way to make it fit.The plastic is pretty sturdy. There's not a lot of leeway when you do get it to fit as the space is very, very small for error or maneuvering. The clips that hold the exhausts in place butt right up against the pieces and they tend to push on those clips and disconnect the exhausts from the window piece. Work lightly and don't force it. This means that taking it in and out of the window will not be the easiest option. Apart from any really cool bits of weather, the kit stays in the window for me until it's time to store the unit. It does come with covers for the holes, but really, if you've used this kind of AC before, that makes little sense since there is no weather proof solution without taking it all out of the window.Noise: It is quieter than other ACs I've had. I've had portables and window units. Large and small. It is NOT quiet enough for me to sleep with it in my room. I have to use fans to direct the cooler air around the corner to my bedroom. It does have a decent "kiunk" when the compressor kicks on. But, even without that, the fan on low is still too loud for me. YMMV.I would say it might be like a table fan on medium. Not low. Again, even low is not low enough for me. It does block the sound of the TV, even from another room. The thud of the compressor vibrates thru the floor. Fire resistant apartment means floors are solid.While the weather hasn't been full force yet, it's working so far. I live in an apartment building with many units. Controlling my own space doesn't come easy given ambient temps in the building. So, this has worked reasonably well so far...keeping my bedroom around 73 degrees while set to 68 in the livingroom.The drain is low, but not as bad as others I've used. A shallow baking pan sits under it well enough...or use a cookie sheet with papertowels/towels on it. It really hasn't been an issue yet.So, quiet, but not that quiet. Easy to use. Some issues getting the window kit in place, but nothing too difficult with a little effort and planning. I would recommend this AC so far. Just keep in mind that it's not as quiet as most people would say, since most people wouldn't be as sensitive to the noise. But, given all that I've read and researched, this is the best solution for my hypersensitive ears (not to mention temperatures). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceeds My Expectations *by K***E on August 10, 2017* This a/c unit is a replacement for an old LG unit. I like this dual-hose model because it reduces the amount of negative pressure in the room so it is more efficient. It is significantly quieter than my last a/c unit and, because of its size, cools my bedroom very quickly. The window vents are very easy to mount and are secure. However, I called Haier because the vents were blocked by the extension panels when trying to fit the window. They said the instructions left it out but the panel has to be cut. The only thing I don't care for is the brightness of the LCD screen when the unit is on.
