If you're a coffee snob then the taste is slightly different, maybe better (something to do with what paper absorbs). edit: Finely ground espresso grounds can clog the tiny holes on this filter (just like they tend to compress into a plug with paper filters), but using the plunger to pull everything "up" a bit, and then pressing back down, that seems to help. In other words, easier to deal with than the paper filters if very fine grounds are your thing. Over time the holes will get clogged on any mesh. They also Lazer etch their logo on the holes creating a weak area; mine has cracked there as have others. I recommend paper after using metal mesh. **Q: diameter of filter?** A: I don’t have it in front of me but it is the exact same diameter as the Aeropress paper filter and the Aeropress filter housing. It worked very well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great buy, more work than the paper filter but also better coffee *by J***N on January 28, 2024* This is a very sturdy filter so unless you're straight up abusing it, the mesh should hold up for a long time. Make sure you make your ground slightly coarser than when using a paper filter, otherwise, you'll be getting a very gritty cup of joe. Even with a slightly coarser grind, you will still have some ground stuck in the filter, so make sure you clean it before the ground dries up and gets stuck. The description doesn't tell you this but you pretty much have to use the inverted brewing method for it to work, otherwise, your coffee would not brew at all and the water would just instantly leak through. For anyone who has not tried the inverted brewing method, it's not hard but may take a little bit of practice. The AeroPress and its standard paper filters changed my life but this filter changed my life all over again. Instead of that super clean coffee, you get a nice full-bodied coffee with a great mouth feel and a lot more flavor.
