**Q: 2 question. first, do you know its scientific name? second, after i cooked few slices of them, i have seen much small pieces stuff like white plastic**
A: Scientific name: Ganoderma lucidum.  Traditional Chinese name is "Lingzhi".  The other Asian cultures have other names.  The red color Reishi is the most sought after because it is believed to have the most medicinal benefits.  Concerning the pieces of plastic you found in your shipment, I think you should contact the seller.  My package did not contain any plastic bits; however, another customer posted that there were bits of plastic in their package.  The traditional way to use these mushrooms is to boil them in water for a while, then to save the water to drink as a medicinal tea (liver cleanse, anti-cancer, etc).  I make a tea with water.  I also prepare an extract by putting these mushrooms into a bottle and then filling it up to the lid with vodka and let it soak for several weeks to make an extract.  I add several drops (about a teaspoon) of this extract to my morning smoothie or I add this extract to my morning hot macha green tea.  I don't think this is a mushroom that is used for cooking and being eaten in regular food recipes.

A: I don’t know and I would suggest getting an extracted product if you need to assure potency.

**Q: Is this organically grown?**
A: No.  Nowhere on packaging nor their website does it claim to be organic.

A: I see Japan on the label
